Temporary closure due to construction work

The Silesian Museum in Görlitz is currently closed for several weeks. Since the opening of the Schönhof in 2006, some areas in the building are now in need of renovation, making construction work necessary. The date of the reopening will be announced in good time.

Special treasures in films

Until then, those interested can find out about some of the special treasures of the permanent exhibition in short films on our homepage. It recalls, for example, a visit by the Hohenzollerns to the Schneekoppe, the last days of the poet Gerhart Hauptmann in Agnetendorf, or the sculptress Dorothea von Philipsborn from a village near Wroclaw. You can also get to know such unusual treasures as a golden "drinking ship" from around 1600, the finest Wroclaw goldsmith's art, or a double portrait of Otto Müller with his wife Maschka, testimony to a great love.

Strolling through the history of the European city with your smartphone

Another offer of the Silesian Museum in Görlitz is the digital history trail through Görlitz and Zgorzelec. With the help of a smartphone app, you can be guided from the Schönhof past the baroque house of the Municipal Museum down Neißstraße over the Old Town Bridge to the Polish side of the European City. At various points, the app provides information about the shared and divided history of both cities. City maps and postcards with a QR code are available in the tourist information offices in Görlitz, which can be used to access the site www.pfade-goerlitz.eu.
