Frescos for the Museum, 1893/94

The Breslau citizens had wished for a Silesian Museum of Fine Arts for a long time – and this should be a magnificent one. Finally, in the summer of 1880, the ceremonial opening took place in the presence of the emperor. The stairway with its monumental painting created in 1893/94 by Hermann Prell, professor of the Dresden Academy, was meant to get the visitors in the right mood to enjoy art.
